The Drowned Basin

Open water under six hundred metres of shelf ice — the largest body on the planet and the only one nobody has seen the whole of. Everything that melts anywhere on the surface eventually arrives here.

Character

Pisces feels what everyone else is feeling, sometimes too much of it. An artist by nature even when not making art, and sees the possibility in a person rather than only the present state. The lesson is where Pisces ends and the other begins.

Empathy
Imagination
Gentleness
Blurred boundaries

The shadow side

The hard part: blurred boundaries that invite being taken advantage of, and escaping into imagination when reality is hard. The repair is saying no without a long explanation.

Life areas

The five areas

Love, the people around you, the work, the body and the long road. Written for everyone born under this sign — your own decan sharpens it, and ORION sharpens it again from your exact date.

Pisces loves without a border, which is both the gift and the whole problem. It merges — takes on the other person’s moods, plans and disappointments as if they were its own — and can stay far too long with someone it has decided to save. Loved well, it is the tenderest partner in the zodiac. The work is keeping an edge to itself.

People tell a Pisces things they have not told anyone, usually within an hour of meeting. It absorbs what a room is feeling whether or not it wants to, which is why crowds exhaust it and why it needs more solitude than it admits. The friendships that last are the ones where it was allowed to be the one needing something.

Art, music, film, healing, care work, spiritual and charitable work, anything where imagination or compassion is the actual product. Pisces is badly served by rigid environments and thrives where the brief is loose. The practical side — invoices, contracts, saying a price out loud — is the part that needs deliberate structure, or someone trusted to hold it.

Pisces rules the feet and the lymphatic system — drainage, and what the body does with what it has taken in. It is the most permeable sign: sensitive to medication, alcohol, caffeine and other people’s stress, often at doses that would not touch anyone else. Rest is not indulgence here, and the sensitivity is not weakness to be trained out.

The last sign carries a little of all eleven before it, which is why nothing human is foreign to a Pisces and why it can be so hard to locate itself. The path is from dissolving to choosing: keeping the compassion and the imagination entirely, and building something solid enough to hold them.

Decans

Three groups of dates inside one sign

Traditional astrology divides every sign into three ten-day groups, each with its own sub-ruler. Pick your day and month to see which one is yours — no birth year, no account.
